Tom Moran was born and raised in Onaway, Michigan. He started Moran Iron Works, after high school graduation in 1978. Today his company specializes in large modular metal fabrication and employs people at four locations in Onaway, Cheboygan and Rogers City, Michigan.

Tom also shares his creative passion by making ornamental sculptures and teaching ornamental welding. He shares his metal creations by donating most of his sculptures to non-profit organizations and educational facilities for fundraising opportunities or public display.

After studying interior design and graphic art at The American College of Art in the '80s, Kimberly Bazemore, a self-taught jeweler, moved to northern Michigan in 1988. She has lived in Traverse City for 15 years, where she has renovated 5 homes and 2 commercial buildings in the city limits, managing these projects while working hands-on. In 2021 she met welder TomMoran from Onaway, MI, and talked him into teaching her how to weld. She now lives between Onaway and Traverse City, Mi, with her cat, Bee, and dog, Cog, who loves any body of water and inspired her studio’s name, Cog’s Creek Studio.
