Summer Art Camp

2024 Summer Art Camp

Swimming with the Fish in the Bay

Dates: July 9-12; 10 am - 12 pm

For ages 6-8 years

Cost: $125

Enrollment period - April 5 until filled

This camp is for the younger set and is a great way to explore our living Great Lakes and sculpt with clay. We’ll use our imaginations and explore the same subjects as the older group, but additional support and smaller class size will support young artists in their clay hand-building activities.

Students register for all four days of the workshop. On the fourth day, families of students and others interested are invited to participate in creative activities focused on Great Lakes fish and take home an original piece of art.

Sculptures will be installed in the park the following spring.

Fish of all shapes and sizes inhabit the bay’s watery ecosystem. The health of the Great Lakes depends on the native fish that roam this liquidy world. In this camp, we’ll use observation, visual aids, and drawing to study these underwater creatures and inspire ceramic sculptures to represent them. The finished hand-built sculptures will be mounted and displayed on the park’s Bayshore Beach the following spring
